Dear Colleagues

Steve StuddI’m pleased to tell you that SkillsActive has been asked to continue to lead the Network’s all-sector management and leadership programme in 2008/9.

The next meeting will be Tuesday 30th 2008 at Financial Services SC's offices in London.

The agenda is on the right.

Who should come to this meeting?

If you have a key interest / responsibility within your SSC for developing and deploying management and leadership development plans then please do attend.

With thanks and regards,

M&L programme for 2008/9

We now have a much clearer view of what is possible, post SSDA, in the M&L field and we’ll have a representative from the Commission at the meeting to give you a briefing and answer your questions.

In addition SkillsActive has an investment proposal to make to you on how an all-sector programme may be taken forward. We would like to get your guidance and, if possible, agreement on key programmes and deliverables before taking this to the CEOs.

M&L Skills Academy

In the summer an opportunity arose at very short notice to put a proposal together for an M&L National Skills Academy. Over a period of a few days in August we worked with CMI to build and submit the proposal. It turned out that we weren’t successful on this occasion.

But we generated a novel approach and some valuable ideas that we’d like to share with you in the event that another investment round for academies emerges. More importantly, the timescale we had for the bid prevented us from a doing full consultation with the network – we would like to put that right going forward.

Share best practice on network M&L activities.
The most popular item from last quarter’s Forum was the round table update of SSC programmes. We want to do the same again so please would you come prepared to give a 3 minute summary  on:

  • Any SSC activities, events (and learnings) that are underway or recently complete
  • Any Regional or Country programmes you are engaged in or are aware of that will be of value to colleagues
  • Key issues that would be best resolved at a network level
