THE INSTITUTE OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT
Free professional membership for the unemployed manager
The Institute of Leadership and Management is proposing to offer free membership to all recently unemployed managers in the UK for six months. This is to support unemployed managers in the current economic climate, giving them practical help with finding a job and also enabling them to up skill themselves during the downturn. Unemployed mangers will also have access to the ILM jobs board which advertises management positions at all levels.
The member benefits of most relevance to the unemployed manager are:
- Careers resource centre – online CV support and letter writing, and interview techniques
- Harvard Manage Mentor – a practical resource comprising 42 modules on useful new skills such as budgeting, negotiation, strategic thinking and innovation.
- Jobs board – access to new management and leadership positions coming on to the market place
- Lifestyle discounts – money off to help in the lean times
- Other benefits – Resources centre with e-books and e-journals, Edge online, Newsroom, CPD support, special interest groups
- Post nominal letters – professional membership of ILM gives credibility through recognition of management experience
Proposed rollout
The unemployed manager will be rolled out in an integrated campaign. This will be an opportunity to support managers in the current economic climate, engage them with the ILM brand and also go someway towards supporting our charitable remit.
Campaign will be rolled out through:
1. PR campaign to the national and trade press
2. Partnering with redundancy websites (for editorial coverage)
3. Advertising on websites and magazines
4. Engaging bloggers
5. Campaigning to HRDs/employers
JobCentre Plus
In order to roll out this campaign effectively and guarantee its reach ILM would like to offer this package through JobCentre Plus Rapid Response unit. We would support this with practical information (a leaflet on the scheme) and the rest is all self-managed online through our website www.i-l-m.com.
