Leadership and Management Partners Communications Strategy

Following discussions at the Skills Strategy Leadership and Management Project Board* each partner is looking at how a distinct leadership and management profile might be established within its own communications strategy including appropriate website content and arrangements for communicating key messages and best practice. The current position (July 06) is -

DfES is providing information about the Advisory Panel through the Skills Strategy Website and including relevant documentation (such as that for the Deans Seminar) which can be accessed through hyper links. A separate Leadership and Management page is under consideration. It will also enter information about the Panel and the Leadership and Management Project into the Government’s Knowledge Network.

DTI has a website on Leadership and Skills for Innovation which includes information on leadership and management and the Advisory Panel.

IiP UK promote the Management and Leadership model, the IiP profile tool and IIP Direct which will cover inspirational leadership and the Business Improvement Diagnostic. There is a large case study data base on the website including leadership and management oriented material and an e-newsletter which contains articles about leadership and management.

SBS manages the Businesslink.gov website which provides a wide range of advice and case studies with a strong emphasis on the knowledge and skills needed by owners and managers to run a business. Under its “employing people” category there is a strong emphasis on leadership and management skills. The Training Directory signposts Learndirect online courses and local workshops, events and seminars and provides a link to the Learndirect Homepage.

The SSDA website has a leadership and management section which contains information about the activities of the SfBN Management and Leadership Board and some case study material. SSDA will be developing a distinct leadership and management profile as part of a new leadership and management strategy.

Promotion of management leadership is part of CMI’s core purpose. Some material is only available to members but many resources including case studies can be downloaded.

Opportunities – Ian Smith will be launching a joint report with Oracle on Human Capital Management Reporting and speaking at the CMI’s national convention in October.
